Did you know that 1 in 6 adults in the past week will have experienced a mental health problem such as anxiety or depression?
Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any given time, whether you’re at work or not. The important thing is to talk about them and not keep things to yourself.
That’s why here at Winnersh Triangle we’re proud to be supporting Mental Health Awareness week, a campaign established in 2001 by the Mental Health Foundation, designed to encourage people to discuss mental health more openly.
This year’s campaign takes place between 13th and 19th May and focuses on body image. Research conducted by the Mental Health Foundation found that, in 2018, 30% of all adults felt so stressed by their body image and appearance that they felt unable to cope.
That’s almost a staggering 1 in 3 people who at some point experienced mental health issues directly related to how they feel about their body image.
A huge part of this Mental Health Awareness week will be promoting the results of a UK-wide survey on body image and mental health to encourage positive conversations on the subject.
The good news is there is a lot that can be done to tackle the issue. At Winnersh Triangle we work hard to offer all our vendors and their employees the best possible working environment. Encouraging a positive work life balance is extremely important to us and we offer a range of activities and events to promote this.
We firmly believe that a boost to an individual’s wellbeing leads to increased productivity. That’s why we have created several spaces across the park to help people unwind and relax. We’d encourage anyone to take part in the activities we run across the year including running clubs, fitness classes, clinics, workshops and events for everyone to enjoy.
As well as an on-site gym, swimming pool and café there are a number of open green spaces for people to enjoy and relax in too. You can choose from several walking or running routes and even make the short walk to Dinton Pastures Country Park.
So, during this Mental Health Awareness week take the time to relax and enjoy the space around you, but more importantly, if you’re struggling with your own mental health don’t be afraid to talk about it.
