Frasers Property delivers zero-landfill office clearance in partnership with Active Workplace Solutions

  • 36,000 sq ft office space at Building E2 cleared with 100% of furniture diverted from landfill

Frasers Property UK has completed a large-scale, zero-landfill office furniture clearance at Building E2, Winnersh Triangle, in partnership with local contractor and commercial space experts Active Workplace Solutions.

The project involved the full clearance of a 36,000 sq ft office space, with 53.2 tonnes of furniture removed over the course of the programme. Through a circular economy-led approach, all furniture was diverted from landfill via donation, resale or responsible recycling,  delivering both environmental and social value.

Active Workplace Solutions, based just three miles from Winnersh Triangle, delivered the project using a three-pillar sustainability approach focused on reuse, resale and recycling. Furniture was assessed prior to removal to maximise its remaining value, with items either donated to YMCA, prepared for resale, or dismantled for material recycling.

In total, 14 tonnes of furniture were donated to the YMCA to support community programmes, 28 tonnes were kept in circulation through resale, and 11.2 tonnes were recycled. This resulted in an estimated carbon saving of approximately 29.7 tonnes of CO₂e, which is equivalent to removing six to seven cars from the road for a year.

Sarah Taylor, Senior Asset Manager at Frasers Property UK, said: “At Frasers Property UK, sustainability plays a vital role in how we manage and enhance our assets across our portfolio, creating long-term value and strengthening our communities. Working with Active Workplace Solutions as a trusted local partner was critical to the success of this large-scale project. The clearance at Winnersh Triangle demonstrates how a strong focus on responsible resource management and supply chain collaboration can deliver commercial outcomes while achieving zero landfill, meaningful carbon savings and positive impact for the local community. I would like to thank the team at Active Workplace Solutions and everyone involved for their commitment and collaboration in delivering such a strong result.”

Frasers Property UK continues to embed sustainability at every stage of its asset management approach. Projects like this reinforce its long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact, supporting local communities and delivering commercially successful outcomes through responsible, circular practices.
