Over this past year many of us have come to know our homes extraordinarily well. Spare rooms, living rooms, kitchens, garages and even attics have had to become makeshift offices following Government instructions to work from home to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

However, as 2020 draws to a close, good news is on the horizon as vaccines against the virus near completion giving us hope that 2021 may just introduce a little more normality following this whirlwind year.

While there are those people who have enjoyed working from home, citing that they get to spend more time with their family, can be more flexible with their working hours and avoid having to do the daily commute, there are equally as many who miss an abundance of the good stuff they get from being in a good office working environment.

It has led to huge questions regarding the future of the office, and what are the real benefits of having office working?

Working in the office is the best place to:

  • Communicate
  • Spark new ideas
  • Provide training
  • Share values
  • Meet with clients
  • Face-to-face meetings are critical
  • Build relationships
  • Establish trust

Office working is also an ingredient which companies use to attract and retain staff. It is for these reasons why companies including tech giants such as Apple and Google have invested heavily in new offices over the last few years. It is also notable that some companies which were early adopters of remote working have subsequently reined in the practice.

People are also social animals, and studies suggest that people who work mainly from home often end up feeling isolated and risk becoming demotivated. In addition, many people like the physical separation between work and home. Being in the office provides a safe working environment.

These are just a few reasons why that once this latest lockdown ends, we will be ready to welcome our occupiers and their staff, with welcome – although socially distanced – arms. There are always plenty of different office options available, whether you need more or less. Visit Winnersh Triangle availability for more information.

Before and throughout the pandemic we have been continuously exploring ways to enhance the accommodation and facilities at our parks by regularly engaging with our occupiers and staff on the ground.

Frasers Property is investing £6m into Winnersh Triangle’s landscaping and amenity offer to create one of the Thames Valley’s leading workplaces which will be able to support 10,000 people. Find out more by visiting Reworking Winnersh. As part of this investment new outdoor meeting pods have been created while we will also be developing a sports hub with wellness centre and event space.

We therefore hope that once Covid restrictions begin to ease that many people remember why the office is so important for not only their work but also their mental wellbeing, and we will be right here ready to help and support for when they do return.
